Severe weather, flooding forces MLS to postpone Austin FC vs. LAFC match at Q2 Stadium

MLS announced the postponement of the match due to the ongoing threat of severe weather in Austin and the surrounding areas.
AUSTIN, Texas — Major League Soccer postponed Saturday’s match between Austin FC and Los Angeles FC at Q2 Stadium due to severe weather and flooding across Central Texas.
The match, originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m., was called off following consultation with local authorities, the league said in a statement on Saturday. Officials cited the safety of fans, players and staff amid hazardous travel conditions caused by the ongoing storm.
Austin FC expressed sympathy for those affected by the devastating flooding in the region.
“Our hearts go out to the families, friends and neighbors who have lost their lives, and we urge those who are able to find their way to safety,” the club said. “We also want to express our gratitude and respect for those who are responding to the crisis with life-saving measures.”
A makeup date for the match will be announced as soon as possible, according to MLS. Tickets purchased for Saturday’s match will be valid for the rescheduled date. Further information will be provided once the new date and time are set.
